In 2024 I worked with my friend Garrett T. Capps on a song I wrote during the pandemic called Out to Dance, and the experience working with Garrett, Bill Baird and friends brought me a lot of joy in a different way than opera and classical music does so I decided to continue to dabble in it. Garrett was busy touring in 2025 so I asked Bill if he’d work on some new songs with me and two more has now turned in to what will become my album, Texas Born Texas Bred. I started bands in Austin (Dirty Rotten Boys), Brooklyn (The Legion) and Barcelona (The Rough Riders) to play the songs live which has also been fun to hear the differences each band brings to the table. I released a second single, Take Me Back to Odessa, mainly to show what I’ve been working on when I’m not producing one of my operas. I’m hoping my next release will be the full album in 2026.
